The trail inverts its direction, and points you towards Rifugio Calvi.

This stage is shorter than the previous one, so you should have some spare time in the afternoon. You could have a walk to a small and beautiful lake (Lago Cabianca) less than an hour from the hut, it's really worth a visit - just have a look to the map at the right of the hut entrance, or ask for directions inside the hut.

[Day 3 - from Rifugio Calvi to Rifugio Laghi Gemelli]

Follow the road which takes you down along the valley; pass beyond the lake (Lago Fregabolgia), then proceed along the road for at about 10 minutes.

When the descent gets very steep, and the road is covered with concrete, follow the trail 213 departing on the left (you will read "Laghi Gemelli").
It descend for few minutes, theh it levels out.

always follow the straight trail to Laghi Gemelli (don't turn right to Carona at the fork.



Sadly, at this point the rain was getting heavy (downpour by english standars, I guess), so I headed to Carona.
By the way, your path proceeds almost flat for some time, then climbs for few minutes, taking you over lake Sardegnana (1738 m). It descends to the lake, crosses the dam, proceeds with some up and down (and a couple of short funny galleries, too), with a wonderful view on Carona (by far the most beautiful village in the valley - my birthplace, obviously... :-) ).
You will finally intersect the trail which climbs to Lago Marcio (1841 m), and then to Laghi Gemelli ("Twin Lakes") (1961 m).

I can't wait to be there...

I was just planning a little bit more my trip, looking to the CAIbergamo website, and wondering "Am I walking a lot, or taking some more times on each day to be doin'g nothing?..."

My plan for the moment :

Foppolo - rifugio longo
Longo - rifugio Calvi (+ halfday trip)
Calvi - rifugio lagi gemelli
Laghi Gemelli (day trip)
Laghi gemelli - caronna (via sentiero 213 + 210)

My plan for the moment :

Foppolo - rifugio longo
Longo - rifugio Calvi (+ halfday trip)

As I wrote before, lago Cabianca is certainly worth a visit; then you could proceed to lago dei Curiosi, passo di Portula (2273 m) and, if you want to have a look around from a very panoramic spot, to Monte Madonnino (2502 m), assuming that the trail to the top is free of snow (not so sure - if it is not free, it's probably better to avoid it).

Laghi Gemelli (day trip)

Lots of possibilities from rifugio Laghi Gemelli - the not too far away Lago Colombo and Lago del Becco, maybe passo d'Aviasco (and possobly the seven lakes just below it), or Pizzo Farno... - lots of choices...

Laghi gemelli - caronna (via sentiero 213 + 210)

That's "Carona"! (I thought it was famous world-wide... )
