Looking for information...

Messaggiodi emmicadeau » domenica 14 giugno 2009, 21:54

Hello, I'm planning a trek in the "sentier orobie" this summer and I'm looking for more informations, specially about how to arrive (from the bergame airport) easily somewhere I can begin my trek, and how I can come back to the airport after... with public transport (bus, train).

I have 4 full days and a afternoon to walk : arriving on a saturday, 9 in the mornig, leaving the wednesday at 8 in the evening.
I would like to go from refuge to refuge, above 1000m high but not more than 2500m, I can walk from 10 to 20 km a day (depending on the relief...), and I will be alone.

Thank you for your help and suggestions...

Emmi from Belgium
(I speak french...and english! I can read some italian but it's not easy...)

Well Thank you for this answer, It's excactlly what I was looking for!!
Thank you also for the trek suggestion. I have one day more, but maybe I can stay one more day on the last alpin hut and make a one day path.

2 more questions :

- do you think I need to reserve my nights at the alpin huts? Is there a lot of people walking around there in the summer (17-22 july)?

- wich map do you think is the best for this trek?

I will sure post some news at my coming back!

Hi emmi

I think it's better call the alpine huts, for saving by surprise

emmicadeau ha scritto:- wich map do you think is the best for this trek?

you can buy easy a Kompass map, but you can also print the information in this website, seen that all the path are well covered by CAI simbols (like austrian flag)

Hi Emmi,

I agree with Bashir's suggestion - and, just to be sure that the trails are properly marked, a couple of weeks ago I woke up earlier than usual, and tried to walk the whole itinerary he suggests.
I gave up at half of the third stage, as it began to rain heavily, but I could take some photos that i think might help you along your trek.

Ok, enough words, let's start with the pictures:

[Day 1 - from Foppolo to Rifugio Longo ]

Start point, Foppolo. Just follow the ski ski run, until the end of the first chairlift.

Enter the road which departs to the right. Most of the signs you will find from now on will show "Rifugio Calvi" (trail number 208), like the one in the picture. You wil quickly reach the pass at the top of the road (Passo della Croce, 1953m).

You now have to cross the valley in front of you (Val Carisole), still following the trail 208. You should have no problems, as the marks are well visible. Just walk to the right of the cabin you can see on the left, slightly below the road, and follow the trail.

You will pass beside this small lake, with two marks well in sight.

Finally, the path climbs a little, and takes you...
