Hi Goro,
Congratulations for your beautiful adventure in "sentiero delle Orobie".
The period you have chosen is not the most favorable,
but allowed you to enjoy the mountains in solitude and tranquility.
Congratulations also to the path you have chosen and the meticulous preparation.
Two question: who is Goro among the four? the others names?

Hallo,
we often think back to this amazing trek in late autumn last year. We would definitely like to come back again in spring 2011, for next part of trek. (Valbodione > Curo > Coca > Brunone > Diavolo > Rif. Longo > Corno Stella > Azzaredo > San Marco > Rif. Benigni > Pizzo Tre Signore > Rif. Buzzoni > Introbio)
I'd like to ask, how much snow is there remaining in april or may, Is possible to go there without ski, without snowshoes?
And next question: in aerly May some huts will be opened from Friday to Sunday. Is possible to stay for night in winter room when hut is open?
Or everytime hut is open, winterroom will be closed for visitors?
Thanks for advices

Hallo again!
After one year, I'd like to come back to remind these marvellous mountains!
Last time I got valuable advices here, so I'll welcome your commnets and tips again.
I'm planing my trip in the begining of September, starting from Foppolo to Lago Moro, Corno Stella summit, and descent to Passo Publino, overnight in bivacco Pedrinelli. (1.day)
Next day continuing to Monte Masoni, descent to Rif.Longo, Passo Selleta, traverse along Diavollo, Passo Valsecca, sleeping in bivacco Frattini. (2.day)
Then we'd like to go Rif.Brunone, ascent to Simal, then Lago di Coca, Passo di Coca, overnight in bivacco Corti. (3.day)
4. day is time to descent to Lago Coca, Rif. Coca, Valbondione, departing to Bergamo and flying home.
I have several questions:
1) How dificult is ridge from Corno Stella summit to Passo Publino?
Can we go this way - on the top of the ridge?
Or is there better way, how to reach bivacco Pedrinelli?
2) The same question is about traverse from Paso Publino to Monte Masoni, contunuing to Passo Venina and descent to Rif.Longo. I'm not sure about descent turn to Rif.Longo.
3) How difficult is path form Passo di Coca to bivacco Corti? Is there any glacier and do we neeed crampons and iceaxe?
4) How often are bivac huts (Pedrinelli, Frattini, Corti) full?
Should we count that bivacco huts will be fully occupied, or is it more often empty?
Thank your for all your answers, advices, tips :)
I'm looking forward!

Re: Valbodione >P.Coca > M.Azzaredo > P.Tre Signore (Ridge H
From Passo Publino you can proceed to the top of Pizzo Zerna, and then reach Monte Masoni along the ridge, but the rock in very unstable; I think it's better, from the Pass, to proceed horizontally on the right slope, then climb to the top of Masoni along a well visibile chimney. From Monte Masoni you can easily find the path that will take you to passo Venina, than down either to the road to rif. Longo, or to Lago del Diavolo and rif. Longo (much nicer).goro ha scritto:2) The same question is about traverse from Paso Publino to Monte Masoni, contunuing to Passo Venina and descent to Rif.Longo. Pedrinelli and Frattini are empty 90% of the time, and in september you should not have any problem in finding free space (unless, maybe, on saturdays).goro ha scritto:4) How often are bivac huts (Pedrinelli, Frattini, Corti) full?

No idea about Corti (never been there), but I suppose it's not much different.

Re: Valbodione >P.Coca > M.Azzaredo > P.Tre Signore (Ridge H
thank you very much!
Somehow like this? (blue route)

As usual we have problem with getting gas canister after our arrival to Bergamo. Last year Franchì helped us (thanks lot again!), now we would like to not burden anyone. So if there is possible to cook in huts, it would be great!
My last question - how about walking from Corno Stella to Passo Publino - stayed unanswered, so i tryied to search informations on my own.
According thisI guess there would be possible to go that way, but i'm not sure with translating from Italian language
Or is possible to go this without crumpons? only with treking poles? I'm used to walk on snow without crumpons when slope is not too steep.
According to map, there is not so big elevation gradient, but I have never been there, you have. What you think? :)
this seems to be better, i will try this way.Paolo ha scritto:I think it's better, from the Pass, to proceed horizontally on the right slope, then climb to the top of Masoni along a well visibile chimney.
If i would use the nicer way via Lago del Diavolo, you mean to continue from Passo Venina on the of the ridge and descent to Lago Diavolo by sentiero n.253?Paolo ha scritto:From Monte Masoni you can easily find the path that will take you to passo Venina, than down either to the road to rif. Great! And can we find there gas cookers?Paolo ha scritto:Pedrinelli and Frattini are empty 90% of the time, and in september you should not have any problem in finding free space (unless, maybe, on saturdays).

May need? :) Because this is only short part where crampons could be needed, we rather to leave them at home and alternatively take different way.franchì ha scritto:there is a permanent snowfield at north of Passo Coca; you may need crampons to reach biv. Corti

Re: Valbodione >P.Coca > M.Azzaredo > P.Tre Signore (Ridge H
No, you'd better descend along track 254 for at about 15 min, then turn left when you will encounter the metal sign for Rif. Longo.goro ha scritto:If i would use the nicer way via Lago del Diavolo, you mean to continue from Passo Venina on the of the ridge and descent to Lago Diavolo by sentiero n.253? Somehow like this? Biv. Frattini is basically a large... metal can, so you find absolutely nothing inside it (apart from folding beds and blankets). Biv. Pedrinelli is much larger and comfortable, and from what I can remember there's a gas cooker - there's also a water source few meters away (I remember you can read something like "sorgente" or "acqua" with a direction arrow written on a rock nearby).goro ha scritto:Great! There's also a wood stove inside, but there's no wood around...

I know that the route from Corno Stella to Publino is quite difficult but feasible, but I never walked along it.goro ha scritto:My last question - how about walking from Corno Stella to Passo Publino - stayed unanswered, so i tryied to search informations on my own.

The link you inserted suggests a route which is longer, and probably as difficult as the direct one, so I suggest you not to take it - you could instead come back from Corno Stella, descend along the same road which takes you to the top, then cross the Carisole Valley and reconnect to the route in the link, to reach Valle Sambuzza and climb to Passo Publino. Just below Lago Moro you could turn left and descend down the steep grass, instead of following the road until Passo della Croce, if you want to save some time.
